  Working on this groups project taught me about teamwork and communication. As project manager I had the responsibility of helping everyone, which was easy. All the groups did a very good job of staying focused and organized. I do think I did a very good job at making everyone feel comfortable by asking me for help and letting them know I’m here to support them. Each group focused on influential people and important events that happened between years 1800’s to 2026. Some of the groups included historical figures such as Martin Luther King Jr, Ruby Bridges and Michael Jackson. Each group explained how these people and events made a big impact on society and helped shape history. Listening to everyone’s present helps me learn more about achievements and struggles. Samuel Flores | Intro to Communications | SPC 1017

We had our big Zoom presentation session covering Chapters 3, 9, and 10 - Intercultural Communication, Communicating in Groups, and Group Leadership and Problem Solving. My role as class leader meant I didn't have to present. Instead, I sat there with my notebook, watching everyone and taking notes on how they did. I'm really glad I did because there was a lot to take in. I kept thinking about how challenging it is to present over Zoom. You can't feel the energy of the room. You're staring into a little camera dot at the top of your screen, hoping people are paying attention. Your slides have to carry a lot of the weight. And if your WiFi cuts out for even a second, it throws everything off. But honestly, most people handled it really well.  This project was a class presentation made into three groups, each group focused on communication, teamwork and leadership. I had the responsibility of helping my classmates stay organized and understanding their positions and what each person’s role was in their groups and helping them stay on track. After listening to each group and seeing them work together throughout the project I realized it was much more than just that. This presentation helped me understand how important communication is in everyday life and how affects teamwork between people. The first group focused on the nature of communication, communication context and communication sittings. They talked about how communication changes depending on the environment, situation and the people involved.
